Our vision

A better life for people with experience of mental distress in Herefordshire and environs.

Our mission

To foster well-being and promote social inclusion by offering choice and assisting people to move forward to achieving their potential and aspirations.

Ferncroft’s mission

Enabling transition to independent living through accommodation based support.

We provide support for tenants to:

· Achieve their own goals or milestones and live independently

      · To do things themselves whenever possible rather than to rely on staff

      · Be heard, express their preferences

      · Learn from their mistakes

      · Maintain their dignity

         · Take an active role within their community and feel included.

Tenants cannot stay for longer than two years. We will support them to make the transition hopefully to more independent accommodation through Home Point, Own Home or private lettings.

We consider it a success for tenants to move on and hopefully they will too.

Tenants at Ferncroft will:

  • Be a user of statutory mental health services
  • Be aged 18 years or above (under 18, considered on case by case basis and may require a financial guarantor)
  • Be subject to enhanced Care Programme Approach (CPA)
  • Have no recent history of violence and substance misuse not addressed through risk management plans
  • Be assessed as likely, or having a realistic chance of holding down a tenacy and living more independently.
  • Require supported housing
  • Want to live at Ferncroft and engage with housing-related support
  • Require assistance to maintain a tenancy (housing related support) and make the transition to greater independence.
